The new European Institute on the base of KSTU

POSTGRADUATE MASTER-PROGRAMME IN EUROPEAN STUDIES
IN GERMAN LANGUAGE
EUROPEAN INSTITUTE KLAUS MEHNERT, KALININGRAD/RUSSIA, 2010/11

Till July 20th, graduates from all disciplines and all countries can apply for the postgraduate programme in European Studies, term 2010/2011, organised by the Kaliningrad European Institute Klaus Mehnert (EIKM). The course is currently the only study programme in European Studies taught in German in Russia and offers its graduates two degrees in one year: a Russian diploma and a German Master of Arts.

Curriculum

The first term of the one year programme includes lectures in six modules: European History and Policies, European Law, European Economy, European Culture, European Social Policies and Russian-European relationships. Additionally, students are required to take a language course, according to their choice English, French or Russian.

In the summer semester, students can choose between a practical semester and further study at the Bergische University Wuppertal, Germany.
In the frame of the practise-semester, students should complete an internship of at least two months in an organisation of their choice. The study year is completed by a diploma-thesis and ends with a Russian diploma.

Alternatively, co-operation with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany) enables EIKM students, after completion of their first semester in Kaliningrad, to supplement their studies in Wuppertal in the Master's programme “European Studies”. Upon successful completion of this programme, students will receive a Russian and a German diploma for the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.).

The best graduates from each year receive the Willy Brandt Award of the Socialist Group (PSE) in the European Parliament and complete a one-month internship in Brussels and Strasbourg.

Application

Applications for the academic year 2010/11 can be submitted till the 20th of July, 2010. Qualifications for the application are a successful completion of a higher education (at least 4 years) and good German language skills.

The study year in Kaliningrad starts 20th of September, 2010.
