Photography exhibition "Port of registration - Kaliningrad" has been started in KSTU

Photography exhibition "Home port - Kaliningrad", organized by the University Museum, is situated in the foyer of the main building of KSTU. It is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of relocation of the Moscow Institute of Fisheries (Mosrybvtuz) to Kaliningrad and the formation of Kaliningrad Technical Institute for Fishery Industry (now KSTU).

The exhibition presents the creative works which became winners of the photo contest announced in autumn 2017. The competition was attended by students, cadets, staff and professors, as well as graduates of the university complex of KSTU. Photo works were evaluated in a number of directions: "Best art photography", "Best original photography", "Hidden camera (Best humorous photography)".

A separate part of the exhibition consists of historical photographs of the period of the relocation of the Moscow Institute of Fisheries (Mosrybvtuz) to Kaliningrad and the life of Kaliningrad Technical Institute in the 60-80s in the last century. There are also photographs that reflect the current activities of the university complex. Thus, the organizers successfully reflected the link between generations.

In addition, separate photographs also show the life of the legendary training vessels "Kruzenshtern" and "Sedov", weekdays and holidays of cadets and professors of Baltic Fishing Fleet State Academy, participants of interesting multi-day voyages.

Rector of KSTU V. Volkogon while opening the exhibition firstly wished all students (both past and current) a happy Student’s Day. And then he reminded of another event: this year in Russia is declared the Year of Volunteer. In connection with this, Vladimir Volkogon handed over volunteer books to representatives of the student volunteer corps of KSTU. This is a kind of analogue of the employment record book, only the work experience is entered not for money, but on a voluntary and on the grant basis. Subsequently that was followed by the award ceremony of winners of the photo contest.

The exhibition will function within a month in the foyer of the main building of KSTU, then it will move for a month to BFFSA (Baltic Fishing Fleet State Academy), after which it will move also for a month to the KMFC (Kaliningrad Maritime Fishing College). Thus, within the next three months, everyone will be able to look through the photographic lens into the inner creative world of modern students and university workers, to touch history and to feel proud of the university.
