Student initiation ceremony at KSTU

On September 2, on the stage of the Art Center, the annual ceremony of initiation into students took place at KSTU.

The rector of Kaliningrad State Technical University Vladimir Volkogon made a parting word. He wished freshmen a happy and vibrant student life, recalling that in addition to studying, it is also important to unleash the potential of young people in science, sports, creativity and other fields. A little later, Mr.Volkogon sang a song with the symbolic name “Cross the Threshold” that has already become a tradition.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kaliningrad Region Ilya Barinov and the head of the West Baltic Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Alexander Zhukov also entered the stage to congratulate the first year students. Immediately after this, the employees and teaching staff of the university complex were awarded recognition certificates for many years of dedicated work and professional excellence.

After this, the awarding ceremony of winners and prize-winners of the competition called "Faculty (Institute) of the Year" was not long in coming. Thus, according to the results of 2018, the Faculty of Shipbuilding and Power Engineering became the best in the nomination “Educational Activities”, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering won in the nomination “Research Activities”, and the Institute of Industrial Economics and Management- in the nomination “Extra-curricular Activities”. The absolute winner of the competition was the Faculty of Shipbuilding and Power Engineering.

The most important part of the "initiation" was the recitation of the oath of freshmen, which was attended by representatives of all faculties and the institute of our university. At the end of the evening, a mini-concert was organized for students, at which students and cadets of the university complex performed bright concerted numbers, thereby confirming the rector's earlier words.
