The Department of Chemistry (Chemical Analysis Resource Centre, KSTU) organised and hosted the scientific and practical conferences Baltic Amber and Resins of the World and Chemistry of Complex Technologies of Natural Raw Materials within the framework of the XII International Baltic Maritime Forum on 1 and 3 October.

KSTU presented new technological developments for the fishery and amber industries, following their innovative traditions.

Summarising the long-term developments of the staff and external infrastructure at the conference, the participants came up with a proposal to create a Scientific and Educational Tourist Cluster in the Kaliningrad region.

In addition to chemical and technological innovations, the humanitarian presentations of the Amber Museum staff, in particular, the report of Z.V. Kostyashova in memory of Elena Gradinarova, a talented amber artist and a member of the university staff, were distinguished by a high level of reports.

The most interesting report about chemists of the past, including our fellow countrymen, was presented by V.A. Slezhkin.

The organisers held quizzes and awarded prizes for the best reports; this year they were Amber Flowers.
