On Students' Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with students of Kaliningrad higher education institutions. Representatives of the KSTU university complex managed to ask questions to the Head of State.

Vladimir Putin supported the proposal of Dmitry Kosolapov, a 3rd year BFFSA cadet, to make it possible to visit the legendary training sailing vessels Sedov and Kruzenshtern during their mooring at the port. For this purpose, it is necessary to create infrastructure in the region's port, as the Head of State agreed.

- As for such vessels as the Sedov and Kruzenshtern, you are absolutely right. Of course, they can and should be used not only for competitions, although it is important. We have repeatedly set records, took first places in international regattas. Future fishermen, seafarers, have their practical training there. These are really marvelous sailing ships, and it would be right to give everyone, both Kaliningrad residents and guests, an opportunity to visit them,” said Vladimir Putin.

One of the questions was asked by Oksana Varzanova, head of the student sports club Amber Knight.

- We know that a modern university campus will be built at BFU in the coming years. We would like this campus to be available not only for BFU students but also to become a centre of attraction for the whole city.

- Everything is exactly as planned,” the President replied. - It will be a large campus; it will fit into the urban environment. We have planned 25 such campuses by 2030. Eight are already under construction. Everything is designed so that not only students of this university can use it, but also students of other universities and residents of Kaliningrad in general. First of all, we are talking about the joint use of sports grounds, libraries, swimming pools, and so on.

Anastasia Kochina and Alexander Menshenin, a young student family from our university, asked a question about support for young families.

- It is very important to start a family in time,” Vladimir Putin replied. He spoke about state and regional benefits, social payments, and other support measures. In particular, he promised that the new student campus will have housing blocks and all the necessary infrastructure just for young families.

The Russian President also spoke to the students about the country's potential in the field of fisheries.

- Russia is one of the largest fish-producing countries in the world. And now we are doing more and more to build fishing vessels of different classes. Have you heard about getting keel quotas? The important thing is that fishing quotas are given to enterprises under their obligation to build vessels at Russian shipyards.

There are many other considerations: support of fish processing on the shore, on our shore, and, of course, transporting products from the Far Eastern regions to the European part of the country. There are many issues that need to be solved here as well. All of them are fundamental and very interesting. And the work itself is interesting,” the President noted. On the one hand, it is romantic and connected with the sea, and on the other hand, it is pragmatic. There are exciting sides,” this is how Vladimir Putin characterised the maritime specialties of fishermen.
